This week in class, I learned some new applications for Google Docs. I've used Google Docs before, and use Google Drive a lot, but I hadn't realized that there were some other neat tools to try.
The first application I tried was Google Draw. Google isn't a great drawing program, but an advantage that it has over other online drawing programs is that more than one user can edit or "draw" on the document. This could be a kind of cool application in the art classroom. I mocked up a "logo design" assignment using Google Draw that I think would be a good use of the program. Students could work in teams to complete assignments, which gives them a realistic idea of what it's like to work in a design firm!

The second Google application I tried was Forms. You can use forms to create surveys, quizzes, almost anything! I think I would use this in my classroom the most as a formative assessment tool, especially in conjunction with a state or district mandated art test. It could really narrow down the concepts and vocabulary I need to hit hardest to make sure my students show progress.
